Timonium, Md. June 14, 2016 – Michele’s Granola, a small-batch, handmade granola company based in Baltimore, has been honored by the Specialty Food Association with the 2016 sofi™ Award for its Ginger Hemp granola in the category of “Best Breads, Muffins, Granola or Cereal.” The company will be honored at the Summer Fancy Food show in New York, NY, June 26-28.

“As a small-batch producer, it’s so exciting to be recognized by the Specialty Food Association for the love and care we put into our handmade granola and truly an honor that they selected our Ginger Hemp granola as the best among so many other excellent products,” said Michele Tsucalas, founder and owner of Michele’s Granola.

The sofi™ award, which stands for “specialty outstanding food innovation,” is considered a top honor in the $120.5 billion specialty food industry. A jury of 46 culinary experts conducted a blind tasting of a record 3,200 entries to select winners across 28 categories. “A sofi means a product, and the people behind it, have arrived,” says Laura Santella-Saccone, chief marketing officer for the Specialty Food Association. “This year’s honorees represent a devotion to excellence and innovation in specialty food that continues to fuel our industry.”

As with all Michele’s Granola varieties, Ginger Hemp granola is handmade in small batches, with organic, all-natural and GMO-free ingredients. Nutrient-rich hemp hearts, a punch of organic ground ginger, and a variety of healthful seeds give this flavor its distinct flavor and texture. This product is free from wheat, dairy and soy, and it is certified vegan.

In addition to Ginger Hemp granola, Michele’s small batch bakery produces Original, Pumpkin Spice, Cherry Chocolate and Cinnamon Raisin granola; a seasonally rotating variety of granola; and Michele’s Toasted Muesli. A standard 12-ounce bag of Michele’s Granola has a suggested retail price of $6.99 and can be purchased at more than 400 natural food retailers, grocery stores and food service facilities, and ordered online.
