Small batch Baltimore granola company launches 2-ounce bag to compete in the snacking category.

July 20, 2018 – As consumer demand surges for convenient better-for-you snacks, small-batch granola bakery Michele’s Granola is releasing a 2-ounce grab-and-go package of its bestselling handmade Original granola. Where Michele’s packaged cereals have primarily been stocked in the breakfast cereal aisle of food retailers, the new size is being sold at the checkout area as a snack item. The plastic package has a zip lock for easy re-sealing, and this format also allows consumers to pour milk directly into the package for an on-the-go breakfast.
“With more consumers seeking convenient and delicious packaged snacks and on-the-go options with simple, wholesome ingredients, this is the perfect time for us to launch our Original granola in a grab-and-go bag,” says Michele Tsucalas, founder and owner of Michele’s Granola.
A 2015 report by Mintel found 94% of Americans snack daily, with a full third of US consumers reporting they are snacking on healthier foods than compared to the previous year. On addressing this trend, Mintel Food Analyst Amanda Topper states, “there will be an increasing need for better-for-you snacks, in smaller portions and convenient formats. This addresses consumers’ desire to balance both health and indulgence.”
Michele’s Original is baked with organic whole grain oats, coconut, almonds and sunflower seeds, and sweetened with organic brown sugar. Free from wheat, dairy and soy, the product boasts a clean ingredient label with no high fructose corn syrup, trans-fats or artificial ingredients.
