2024 Give One Partner: Moveable Feast

Ride for the Feast, fueled by Michele's Granola

We believe everyone deserves good food, and we are a stronger, safer, more vibrant community when everyone is well fed and taken care of. To help achieve equity in our food system, we donate 1% of every sale to community-based organizations that are addressing inequalities and improving healthy food access. Our donations in 2024 are expected to exceed $150,000, with nearly $500,000 given to date.

Ride for the Feast 2024

As part of this community commitment, Michele’s Granola is proud to be a Steel Sponsor of the 2024 Ride for the Feast, an annual charity cycling event supporting the critical work of Baltimore-based non-profit Moveable Feast. We're also donating fresh-made granola to fuel the participants! The Ride, now in its 22nd year, will take place on May 11 on Maryland’s Eastern shore.

Every Rider is required to raise a minimum of $1,000 to participate and can cycle a 42-, 66- or 101-mile route. Several hundred cyclists are expected to participate with a total fundraising goal of $600,000. 100% of funds raised, including community sponsorships and cyclist registration fees, will support Moveable Feast’s mission to improve the health of Marylanders experiencing food insecurity and critical illness by preparing and delivering medically-tailored meals and providing nutrition education at no cost to its clients.

Who is Moveable Feast?

Moveable Feast was founded in 1989 during the height of the AIDS epidemic by a group of volunteers who began delivering home-cooked meals to people living with HIV and AIDS in Baltimore City. Services have since expanded to provide healthy food to those living with a variety of co-morbid conditions and other critical illnesses like cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease across Maryland. Clients are matched with a menu type that best complements their medical treatment and health goals.

Meeting the need today

Demand for Moveable Feast’s services is growing, especially as many emergency food programs and funding that became available during the COVID-19 pandemic have now ended. In 2023, Moveable Feast served over 2,000 individuals, an increase of 17% over the number of clients served in the previous year. Clients residing in 15 counties across Maryland received home deliveries of over 400,000 meals and over 70,000 bags of produce. There is currently a waitlist for Moveable Feast’s services, and volunteer and donor support is more critical than ever to make sure anyone who needs their services is able to receive them.

We’re honored to sponsor the 2024 Ride for the Feast and its incredible team of cyclists who are raising awareness and providing vital nourishment for those experiencing chronic illness and food insecurity in Maryland. Click here to learn more or register to join the Ride!
