Baking the Old Fashioned Way Wins Michele’s Granola Expansive Distribution with Whole Foods Market
Small batch Baltimore granola company baking for Whole Foods Market on both coasts.
Timonium, MD. November 13, 2018. Michele’s Granola has secured a substantial contract with Whole Foods Market to distribute the bakery’s handmade granola to more than 350 Whole Foods locations across 28 states. The small batch bakery’s partnership with Whole Foods Markets spans more than a decade, but this new contract represents a considerable increase in distribution, and will give Michele’s Granola a significant presence on the west coast for the first time in the company’s 12+ year history.
With increased demand from Whole Foods Market and other retail partners, Michele’s Granola founder and owner Michele Tsucalas is committed to producing her granola the “old fashioned” way: Michele and her team make the granola by hand from premium organic and natural ingredients, resulting in a clean flavor and light, crisp texture. Rather than mechanizing or outsourcing production, Michele is adding staff to her Maryland bakery, where 40 employees make, bake, package and distribute granola.
“Whole Foods Market has been a big supporter of my company from our earliest days, and I’m grateful and excited to build on our partnership by distributing our granola into new regions,” says Tsucalas.
Kathleen Wood, Local Forager for Whole Foods Market said, “Whole Foods Market has believed in Michele’s Granola and their excellent products for many years, and we are happy to be part of the brand’s growth into more than 350 of our stores.”
All Michele’s Granola products are baked with organic whole grain oats, coconut, and a variety of seeds, nuts and other natural and organic mix-ins. Free from wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts and soy, the product boasts a clean ingredient label with no high fructose corn syrup, sugar alcohols, trans-fats or artificial ingredients.
