FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Michele’s Granola Renews its Commitment to Food Security with Donations totaling $85,000
The Maryland brand has awarded seven grants to nonprofit organizations through its Give One for Good Food® fund.

Timonium, Maryland (June 17, 2024) – Michele’s Granola has awarded grants ranging from $10,000 to $15,000 each to seven nonprofit organizations aligned with the brand’s commitment to building a healthier, more equitable food system.

Michele Tsucalas, founder and owner of Michele’s Granola, created the Give One for Good Food® initiative in 2013, through which her company donates 1% of gross sales to organizations making a measurable impact in their community and addressing the root cause of hunger.

The focus of this grant-making cycle is building capacity for the grantees, all of whom have received previous funding from Michele’s Granola:

Common Good City Farm, DC

Crossroads Community Food Network, MD

Farm Alliance of Baltimore, MD

Intersection of Change (Strength to Love II), MD

Kanbe's Markets, MO

Soul Fire Farm Institute, NY

United Community Centers, Inc.; NY

Says Kathryn Stephens of Common Good City Farm, “This funding helps uphold our mission to sustain and support a more equitable community through growing, learning, cooking, and sharing fresh food together. Our small but mighty team operates a unique urban farm that offers youth programming, community events, and a Pay-What-You-Can farmers market, which increases our community's access to nutritious food options.  We are immensely grateful that Michele's Granola is willing to endorse and support this work.”

Michele Tsucalas says “As our brand has grown, so has our charitable giving, with 2024 marking the largest dollar amount of donations since the program’s launch. We are extremely grateful to be able to increase our support of these stellar community-based organizations .” In addition to funds distributed through this grant cycle, charitable allocations also include a multi-year partnership with Whole Foods Market Foundation and gifts to other organizations whose work is in alignment with the Give One mission. Annual Give One contributions will total more than $150,000 in 2024.
