When Michele created this company 10 years ago, not only was she committed to making the best granola possible, she was also committed to creating social change through her business. In 2014, Michele created Give One for Good Food®, a program through which we donate 1% of sales to non-profits who work to improve nutrition and access to fresh, healthy food in our community. On top of financially supporting these important causes, everyone on our team takes two employer-paid days a year to volunteer with these organizations.
One beneficiary of our support is Whitelock Community Farm, an urban community farm in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood of Baltimore. We've funded physical infrastructure improvements that allowed them to increase sales through increased production. We've also provided support for the hiring of a Program Manager to oversee programs designed to broadly impact Central-West Baltimore through healthy food, as well as through partnerships with elementary and middle schools, summer internships for high school youth, community workshops, college internships and apprenticeships.
This week, it was our pleasure to volunteer at Whitelock (pictured at top), as well as at Moveable Feast (pictured bottom) where earlier this year, we put our culinary skills to work preparing and packaging meals for home-bound individuals with HIV/AIDS and other serious illness.
We know that you buy our granola because it's delicious and wholesome, but we hope that you feel even better about supporting our brand when you learn how we give back to our community!
